Are you all about the mission or the money?
Too many times, nonprofit Fundraisers get so focused on the money that they forget to communicate about the mission.
They talk about their need, their budget, and their annual fund.
I’ve seen this in direct mail appeals, grant proposals, and major donor visits.
It’s boring to a donor.
Keep this in mind: it’s not about the money you need. It’s about fulfilling your organization’s mission.
It’s about helping people and changing or saving lives.
When you share from that point of view, your appeals take on a much richer tone than if you’re just begging for money.
It’s much more interesting to your donor and they’ll be much more likely to give.
