Bring in Big Money

What could you do with more money? Increase income, meet fundraising goals and carry out your big vision. Save more lives when you have all the money you need to run your nonprofit.

How do I get a grant for my nonprofit?

It’s one of the most common questions I get from new, young, and small nonprofits, especially if they’re still underfunded. Despite what many people think, grants aren’t ‘free’ money or some quick solution to your fundraising problems.

When I first started writing grants, I too thought it should be easy to put together a proposal and get thousands of dollars for my nonprofit. Except that it was much harder than I thought. And despite my best effort, putting everything I knew into my proposal, it wasn’t funded.

Grants are competitive

The truth is, just because you have a nonprofit and do good work, doesn’t mean that the money appears magically. You have to prove that your program or project is better than someone else’s. You also have to show how the money will be spent and how you’ll get great results.

I learned the hard way. My first grant was a disaster (and didn’t get funded). I spent almost a year learning everything I could about grants — attending workshops, reading books, writing and re-writing. And the next year, when the same grant came around again, I wrote a powerful proposal that gave us $40,000 to hire a new program person.

I don’t want to see you struggle

Fundraising is hard enough without the steep learning curve. If you’d like to have a revenue stream from grants, but don’t know how to find the right opportunities, we can help.

See what you can do too…

“We always wanted and needed a grant writing program, but we didn’t have the manpower or expertise to start one up. Even though we tried, we could never get it off the ground.

Susan changed everything. We explained our needs, and she identified foundations whose vision matched ours. We then created a plan and calendar for the year, and she started writing. It was like a grant program in a box!

The results exceeded our wildest expectations. In our first year, we were awarded $24,000 in grants, which paid for a capital medical equipment purchase PLUS operational funding for two of our programs.”

Chris de Zorzi, Board Treasurer
, Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter, Burbank, CA

“We started off this budget year with two new grants and an additional $96K.

Susan’s work has been so incredibly helpful for both our AniMeals and Meals on Wheels Program.

For the first time in many, many years, our budget balances (and with savings to boot). Not only are our internal issues fixed, but the grant donations are rolling in. And we are diversifying to the point where we are only 42% government dependent. What a 100% turnaround in a short 5 years.”

Lynnda Manville, Director
, Blount County Meals on Wheels, Maryville, TN

Sandy’s an expert storyteller and guide, teaching us how to share our mission and help our Humane Society grow using Facebook posts. But the icing on the cake was having Susan Caldwell, our expert grant writer as part of the team.

Susan has successfully written $51,600 in proposals for our organization. These additional funds helped us make lives better for our homeless animals while they’re with us. We’ve used the money to increase both cat and dog adoptions (she even found one to help get senior citizen Pitbulls adopted!) and we’re applying one toward our new building in the near future.

You just can’t go wrong with these folks!”

Charlotte Craig, Board President
, The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, Cape Girardeau, MO
Susan and the Get Fully Funded team took the guesswork out of getting grants! Susan’s deep knowledge of which grants are available, and her positive representation of our organization, allowed us to focus on what we do best—helping needy children! The patience and persistence of the GFF team paid off when we received our first grant to help finish our clinic in Liberia. Throughout the process, Susan and everyone at GFF were kind and professional. They really care about our cause and want it to be successful. We were so happy with the results after our first year of retaining Get Fully Funded, that we stayed with the program and Susan is still pursuing grants on our behalf. Our investment in a dedicated grant-seeking team has more than paid for itself. THANK YOU, Get Fully Funded!
Candi Summers, Administrative Director, BESTWA, Dallas, TX

“Thank you!! Brilliant work in a difficult context. Thank you for delving so deeply into research and coming up with so many good prospects, many that we didn’t know about. Well done!”

Molly Blancke, MPA, Executive Director, Lutheran Counseling Center, Mineola, NY
